The Westbourne is an established B&B located in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, offering guests a welcoming base for exploring
the Lake District.
When Greg and Angela took over The Westbourne B&B in July 2025, they inherited a business with a brand and digital presence that did not align with the experience they wanted to create at the B&B. At the same
time, too many bookings were coming through third-party platforms such as Booking.com, bringing hefty commission fees.
The Westbourne B&B needed a marketing strategy that would reposition the business in a competitive hospitality market while making direct booking the obvious choice.
That’s where we stepped up.
Prospect 13 delivered a fully integrated brand, and digital strategy designed around one clear commercial goal to increase direct booking
From repositioning the brand and optimising the website, content, introducing email marketing and paid advertising, every part of the strategy had a role to play in getting The Westbourne B&B found, giving guests confidence to choose it and creating a clearer route to book direct.
Through a series of branding sessions, we developed a refreshed visual identity that balanced the character and heritage of The Westbourne B&B with a more contemporary look and feel that better reflected Greg and Angela’s vision.
This included a new logo, typography, an updated colour palette and supporting brand assets, each element creating a warmer and more consistent identity across all future communications.
Updated photography complemented the new look by showcasing the charm of the B&B and the personal touches Greg and Angela were introducing.

We revamped The Westbourne B&B website around the guest journey, creating a clearer and more engaging digital experience from the first click through to booking.
By improving the site structure, messaging and calls to action, we made it easier to explore the B&B and find the information they needed to book their stay.
Rather than relying on third-party platforms to put The Westbourne in front of potential guests, we focused on building visibility through channels Greg and Angela could own and grow.
Through technical SEO, keyword research and content optimisation, we strengthened the website around how potential guests were searching for Lake District stays. We also considered the growing role of AI search, structuring and developing content to help strengthen The Westbourne’s visibility across both traditional search engines and AI-led search journeys.
This was supported by a 12-month blog strategy targeting relevant topics and long-tail searches, helping The Westbourne B&B reach potential guests earlier in their trip-planning journey.
Paid Google Ads added an additional route to capture more demand towards potential guests actively looking for accommodation in the Lake District. Paired with regular email communication, this helped The Westbourne B&B stay in touch with its audience and reconnect with previous guests to encourage future stays.
Within six months:
The value of these figures goes beyond just surface level as more direct enquiries gave Greg and Angela an opportunity to secure bookings without losing a share of the revenue to third-party commission fees.
This also meant that guests benefited from the best available rates at The Westbourne B&B while more value from each stay remained within the business.
It was a chance for the Prospect 13 team to show the value of integrated marketing, bringing brand, website, search, content, paid advertising and email marketing together to work towards one clear goal.
With the foundations in place, Greg and Angela now have a robust marketing platform built to keep delivering value long after the initial six-month period.
“Prospect 13 helped us turn our vision for The Westbourne into something we could really be proud of.”
