A brand-new awards scheme which aims to highlight community initiatives spearheaded by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled its finalists.
The New Day Awards are the brainchild of Prospect 13 Managing Director Cerri McDonald who was moved by the wealth of projects which have sprung up to throw critical lifelines to communities throughout the North East during the current crisis. Keen to elevate their profile and give thanks in her own unique way, she set about creating the online awards which have closed to nominations.
More than 30 finalists have been selected, with the original number of categories expanded to eight in a bid to acknowledge as much good work as possible. From free online fitness sessions and distributing essential supplies, to donations of PPE to the NHS and manufacturing hand sanitiser, the list of local finalists provides a snapshot of some of the fabulous work which has been taking place throughout the region.
Commenting on the response to the New Day Awards, Cerri said: “We are both delighted and overwhelmed that so many people have jumped on board this project to honour some of the great work that is taking place. The online engagement reached over 15,000 people in just a few days and over 1000 votes have been cast already showing the appetite to recognise those people, groups and organisations involved. For me, learning more about the diverse range of support and kindness being seen across the North East, truly makes be proud of my roots. I feel humbled and inspired at the heart-warming, old school community spirit.”

It supports others to better manage sales and marketing activities as well as raise profile through effective stakeholder engagement. From Aberdeen, Cerri and her team represent clients in a range of sectors including oil and gas, education, food and drink, technology, IT, professional services, travel management and media. The company is busy throughout the UK and also operates in Norway, Finland, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.
